Supporting Maori/Pacific Business [Porirua]

Porirua is where I was born and raised. It’s where my immediate family live and it’ll always be home. What started out as a conversation with Best Friend who challenged me on my initial [admittedly poor] judgment around the fuss made over the re-opening of KFC [yes I was one of the people who was all “WTF?”] turned into me asking the Porirua page to list Maori and Pacific owned businesses so that we could highlight/uplift them and hopefully be intentional around supporting each other. To, essentially, invest in us. To my knowledge, there isn’t any kind of directory that’s readily available.

It’s been a tough year for everyone all over the world, especially BIPOC communities. I know we don’t all have disposable income for gifts this holiday season but if you do and you’re near my hometown, I thought it would be awesome to get behind our locals, especially our Maori and Pacific whanau [let’s not break our backs doing it though please – last thing you need to do is pressure yourself into spending when you are struggling!]
